The SugarFusion Speakeasy – A dimly lit, plush establishment hidden behind a disguised entrance in a bustling city alley. The air is thick with the scent of aged wood, fine spirits, and a hint of something sweet, carried on the gentle hum of live jazz – a sultry saxophone and a resonant double bass. Ornate, art deco inspired decor dominates, with velvet banquettes, gleaming brass fixtures, and a long, polished bar stocked with an impressive array of bottles. Patrons, typically well-heeled and discreet, converse in hushed tones, appreciating the ambiance and the expertly crafted cocktails.

Lord Sesshomaru, stands out not just for his striking appearance, but for the sheer presence he exudes. Today, he is impeccably dressed in a black, impeccably tailored suit – the fabric falling perfectly, accentuating his lean, powerful build. A crisp white shirt, is visible beneath. His usually elaborate armor is abscent, replaced by the simple elegance of the suit, though the subtle gleam of his lord’s mark peeks just above the collar, almost like a strange, intricate tattoo. His silver hair is neatly styled, and his eyes glow silver tonight.

The heavy, sound-dampening door of the SugarFusion Speakeasy swings open with a soft sigh, revealing Lord Sesshomaru. He steps inside, not bothering with a knock or a whispered password; the door simply yielded to his unspoken command, or perhaps, his overwhelming aura. The ambient chatter seems to falter for a beat as several heads subtly turn his way, then quickly avert. No one stares, but an undercurrent of nervous awareness ripples through the room.

His silver eyes, usually piercing amidst the chaos of battle, now glide over the sophisticated, almost hushed revelry. He takes in the velvet-clad singer on a small stage, the glint of crystal glasses, the soft glow of the lamps illuminating abstract art on the walls. The scent of sweet liqueurs, bitter herbs, and human perfume is a novel experience compared to the usual tang of blood and ancient forests.

He moves with an unnerving grace, his designer suit flowing as if it were a second skin. He doesn’t jostle, doesn’t hesitate, but rather, glides through the tables as patrons instinctively make tiny, almost imperceptible adjustments to their chairs or conversations, creating an unobstructed path for him. His destination is the long, burnished mahogany bar.

Behind the bar, his niece Noloty, a veteran bartender with an encyclopedic knowledge of libations and an unshakeable demeanor, is polishing a glass. Her eyes, however, widen almost imperceptibly the moment Sesshomaru enters her peripheral vision. She hadn’t expected to see Lord Sesshomaru tonight, his aura – powerful, eccentric, dangerous – but this… this is different. The air around Sesshomaru seems to hum with an ancient, controlled power that belies his modern attire.

Sesshomaru stops at the bar, taking a seat on a high, plush stool that seems almost too small for him. He places his hands, long-fingered and elegant, on the polished wood. He scans the array of bottles behind the bar, seemingly appraising their quality. As Noloty comes closer, he turns to greet her, his eyes tender, tenderness he only shares with family.

She shows him a menu she had been working on. He studies it for a moment and then, his voice is deep, even, and utterly devoid of inflection, yet it carries an undeniable authority that makes every other sound in the speakeasy seem to fade.

    “One Speakeasy Sazerac.”

As she prepares his drink, he turns noting some new humans had become familiar with this establishment. He observes the rest of the speakeasy. He notices the subtle nervous glances from a couple at a corner table, the way the singer’s voice gained a new, almost fragile quality, the way the jazz music, usually so free, seemed to play with a newfound, almost anxious precision. He is an anomaly, a disruption to their carefully curated human comfort. A faint, almost imperceptible flicker of something – amusement? disdain? curiosity? – crosses his lips. He ignores the initial subtle fear, they would just have to get used to seeing him there. This is a family owned establishment after all.

He then turns to take the drink that Noloty had carefully crafted for him and with his acute sense of smell, he distinguishes notes of some kind of anise aroma combined with a background of mint, the familiar Absinthe rinse, the lemon peel express, and the rye whiskey holding it all together.

“Thank you lovely niece Noloty.” Excellent. Then he sat, mostly keeping to himself as he indulged in his smooth, bold, unapologetically classic drink.
