The Autumn Masquerade of Joyd Tiki

Lord Mikk extended the masquerade ball into November giving everyone a chance to enjoy the Autumn/Fall feel that would soon disappear in November’s Fire.

(The grand, slightly eccentric SugarFoxFlame Ballroom. For the autumn festivities, it’s been transformed. Rich tapestries depicting falling leaves and mythical foxes hang from the high ceilings. Candlesticks flicker with warm, amber light, making shadows dance. The scent of cinnamon, mulled wine, and polished wood permeates the air. A massive, intricately carved fireplace roars with a cheerful blaze, casting an orange glow over a stage where a string quartet plays elegant, slightly melancholic waltzes.)

*Lord Mikk is the epitome of a charming, enigmatic, and utterly captivating host. He’s impeccably dressed in a deep auburn velvet waistcoat, dark tailored trousers, and a crisp white shirt, perhaps with a subtle brocade pattern. His movements are fluid and graceful, his smile practiced and warm, yet his eyes – those piercing, obsidian eyes – hold a depth of ancient amusement and a hint of something predatory that belies his pleasant demeanor. He often holds a delicate, antique cigarette holder, occasionally taking slow, deliberate puffs, letting tendrils of smoke curl around him like a personal aura. He speaks with a smooth, resonant voice, laced with an almost poetic elegance.*

The Festivities: “The Whispering Leaves Masquerade”

Joyd Tiki has curated an evening of sophisticated autumn delight, designed not just for entertainment, but for observation and, if he’s lucky, a little amusement at the fragility of human desires.

As you arrive at the SugarFoxFlame Ballroom, a gilded invitation in hand. The atmosphere is intoxicating – a blend of festive cheer and an underlying sense of theatrical mystery. Guests mill about in exquisite masks and autumnal finery. As you step further inside, a figure catches your eye.

He stands near a colossal pumpkin, carved with a grinning fox, effortlessly engaging a small cluster of guests. He’s undeniably handsome, exuding an aura of effortless command and charisma. This must be the host, Lord Mikk. He gestures with a gloved hand, and a liveried servant offers you a flute of sparkling, spiced cider.

Joyd’s gaze, fleetingly, meets yours from across the room. A subtle, almost imperceptible smirk plays on his lips before he turns back to his conversation, though you feel as if his attention hasn’t quite left you.

The Oracle’s Grove (A Game of Riddles & Whispers):

Hidden amongst potted autumn foliage in a secluded corner, Lord Mikk has set up “The Oracle’s Grove.” Guests are invited to approach a booth shrouded in shimmering, leaf-patterned silks. Inside, a voice (sometimes Lord Mikk’s own, subtly altered, or a cleverly placed automaton) poses cryptic riddles or asks deeply personal questions.

Lord Mikk’s Twist: The “answers” aren’t always correct or logical; sometimes they’re designed to sow doubt, reveal a hidden desire, or gently mock a guest’s deepest fears. He observes reactions from a distance, enjoying the discomfort or triumph.

Will you seek the Oracle? What question will you ask, and how will you react to its unsettling answer?

++The Fox and the Flame (A Dance Competition):

On the main ballroom floor, a captivating dance competition is announced. Pairs are formed, often by pulling names from a velvet bag. The dance is fluid and expressive, encouraging partners to truly connect.

Lord Mikk himself often “volunteers” to be a last-minute partner for someone without one, or for a guest who piques his interest. His dancing is mesmerizing, almost supernatural in its grace and precision. During the dance, he might lean in and whisper ambiguous compliments or veiled observations that seem to peer right into your soul. He might subtly guide his partner into steps that feel impossible, almost as if they’re floating.

Will you enter the dance? What will it be like to dance with Lord Mikk as your partner? What secrets might he try to uncover through your movements or through quiet conversation?

+++Serpent’s Scale (Games of Chance & Wits):

In a side chamber, tables are laden with ancient-looking board games, intricate card decks, and games of pure chance. These aren’t for money, but for “favors, secrets, or the temporary surrender of a cherished possession.”

Here, Lord Mikk personally oversees some of the higher-stakes games. He enjoys watching people gamble away things they value more than money. He’s an expert at reading tells, manipulating circumstances (subtly, of course, perhaps a card slips just so, a die tumbles just right), and making even losing feel like a profound experience. He might offer a “second chance” that comes with an even higher, more personal cost.

    ++++The Unmasking Moment (The Climax):

As midnight approaches, Lord Mikk announces the grand conclusion to the Masquerade: “The Unmasking of True Desires.” All guests are invited to remove their masks.

While others are revealing their faces, Lord Mikk watches, not just their expressions, but their reactions to each other. He might deliver a short, eloquent speech about the masks we wear every day, and the fleeting beauty of revealing our “true selves,” all while his own eyes hold a calculating, almost detached amusement. For those whose masks he truly enjoyed seeing fall, he might offer a personal, cryptic “gift” – perhaps a single pressed autumn leaf that never wilts, or a small, intricately carved wooden fox that seems to watch you closely. Or, for those he found particularly amusing or disappointing, a subtle, almost imperceptible “touch” that leaves a chill, a shiver of unease, or a feeling of being utterly exposed.

What expression will be on your face when you remove your mask? What will Joyd Tiki see in you? What ‘gift’ or unsettling feeling might you leave with?

    _____

Lord Mikk isn’t looking to kill or destroy, not tonight. He’s looking for entertainment. He wants to see humans at their most vibrant, their most desperate, their most ambitious, and their most vulnerable. He revels in their fleeting joys and their quiet anxieties. The “prizes” he offers, or the “losses” he inflicts, are rarely physical. Instead, they affect the mind, the memory, the spirit. A memory might become subtly twisted, a desire amplified, a fear made more vivid, or a hidden weakness exposed to oneself. He wants to leave an impression, to sow seeds of chaos or profound self-reflection, and then watch them grow.
