But for now, here is what you need to know about him– straight from the Facebook page I created for him. And yes, that Facebook page linked is that. I just do not wish to give my personal information out here in the open. Once we talk or RP enough, maybe then I will tell you a little more about myself.))

A B O U T L U D W I G

Human Name: Ludwig (pronounced Lood-vig; meaning famous warrior) Beilschmidt

Meaning Behind The Middle Name: Verhüllung is a German word meaning “veil” or “mask”. Ludwig often comes across as being cold to others but it is primarily a mask. He, like anyone else, wants friends and people he can rely on. However, because he does not want to be hurt by them, he is rarely “takes off” the mask to show his real self through to others, unless he is close to them. This also seemed fitting since in a way (to me, the admin), RPing is a way, putting on a mask or veil because you are a whole another person behind who you are RPing. You may be RPing because you relate to them, because you find their character or history interesting, or maybe you just want to put your own twist on them, but it is like a mask you would wear in a theatre.

Nickname(s): Lud, Luddy, West, and Doistu. However, he only responds to Doistu if it is Japan calling him this since Doistu is Japanese and likewise, only to West when it is Prussia. Any degrading nickname “Potato Bastard”, “Kraut Breath”, etc., he just ignores or rolls his eyes to.

Age: Appearance wise, he looks to be right about 20 years old. Historically, it depends whether one follows the HRE=Germany theory. If one chooses to not follow it, he is right around 150 years old. If one does believe it, he would be right around 2,715 years old.

Birthday: Since he is rather unsure about it, he usually says October 3, 1871. October 3 signifies German Unification Day, or when West and East Germany were finally reunited after the Berlin Wall fell as well as his national holiday; and 1871 was the year when all German states were unified.

Languages Spoken: Ludwig enjoys trying to learn other languages, though sometimes he grows frustrated with the ones that are vastly different than his own. The ones he is most fluent in are German, English, and German Sign Language. He knows a Prussian and Old German as Gilbert sometimes speaks it, knows some Italian from his time around both the Northern and Southern personification for it, and during the time he was allies with Kiku, he taught himself Japanese.

Personality: serious, thoughtful (Once he is comfortable around person, such as family member, friend, or lover, they will see that side a little more often) loyal, hard-worker, stubborn. To sum it up, he has the personality of someone who is left side dominant in their brain.

Temperament: Ludwig is a very intelligent man as evidenced by his love for learning new things and the geniuses such as Albert Einstein and Wernher von Braun who hailed from his land. He loves to work with his hands, constructing and building things by his own skills that he has been perfecting since his younger days, and is very hard-working. He is incredibly book-smart, but also relatively good at being street smart.

Good Habit(s): loyalty, punctuality, rule-abiding (but as such, is “weak to them”), being logical/practical when thinking situations through, bravery

Bad Habit(s): finds it hard to relax/being a workaholic (even if he himself does not think so), not always getting enough sleep, his temper, being just a little too stubborn, drinking a lot

Like(s): dogs, being with the ones he cares about, Oktoberfest, organization and cleanliness, punctuality

Dislike(s): sloppy people, jokes about World War II, Holocaust or Nazi jokes (If he does hear one of these jokes, he will either become really silent and not speak until the topic is changed, or become extremely angry and upset with whoever brought it up because even to this day, he still harbors feelings of guilt), tardiness/laziness, people who call him/his brother/his people Nazis, spicy foods (His diet mainly consists of simple things such as bread, potatoes, bratwurst, and cake so usually he will prefer simple or sweeter foods over the spicy things.)

Hobbies: training/working out, reading and writing, baking (mainly sweets such as cakes and chocolate), tinkering with cars/clocks/machines in general to perfect his engineering skills, and walking his dogs.

Fear(s): Aichmophobia– fear of pointed objects, such as needles or knives.

Anemophobia– the fear of drafts; such as when a door is slightly cracked open, when windows are not locked securely, etc.

Atychiphobia– fear of failure.

Iatrophobia– fear of doctors or going to the doctors.

Mysophobia– Fear of being contaminated with dirt or germs.

Nosocomephobia- Fear of hospitals.

Strength(s): Determination– once he makes up his mind about something, he does not back down or give up very easily. He will continue working until he gets what he wants/needs to finished.

Use of guns– He is not as sharp as his Swiss neighbor, but he is still very useful with a gun. He has also found out that he likes guns far better than knives because he has aichmophobia (a fear of pointed and sharp objects) and because with guns, you do not have to feel your enemy die so you can shoot from afar and not feel their life drain away at your hands.

Bravery– This also ties into his loyalty. If he were on a battle field and an ally was injured, he would be willing to risk his life to ensure their safety. He is often self-sacrificing when it comes to family and very few close friends. Loved ones are more important to him than his own life, but to some, this can also be considered a weakness since he does not think very clearly when loved ones are hurt.

Weakness(es): He suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD. For example, if CDs are out of order alphabetically or books are placed in the wrong sequence, he will stop whatever he is doing just to make them correct. He is a huge on cleanliness and will not stop cleaning until it is up to his high standards, which often means it must be spotless because of his concerns about dirt and germs. He also has the tendency to wash his hands excessively. Ludwig likes having things orderly and symmetrical, sometimes even getting stressed when things are not in order.

Hypochondrias (sometimes referred to as health anxiety) is another weakness of his. This means that even when all evidence says otherwise, he will still think he has some awful or even deadly illness. A cough leads to pneumonia, vomiting is a sure sign of a serious illness, etc. Sometimes as a hypochondriac, Ludwig needs to be reassured that his concerns about symptoms are over the top.

Ludwig also suffers from complex post-traumatic stress disorder, or C-PTSD for short, often re-experiencing trauma in the form of flashbacks or nightmares. His nightmares can be recurring about the same event, or be about one particular event, with a different, often worse outcome. Being pinned to the wall/ground or suddenly being tied to something like a chair, stretcher, table, etc., also may bring back some of these horrible memories. Although the blonde is not the most social of men, he also tends to avoids places, people as they may remind him of these experiences. He often has sleeping problems, has bouts of depression as well as irritability/anger, difficulty in remembering things (such as his earlier years and childhood), finding it hard to trust others, and an increased tendency/reaction to being startled. In some cases, he may also believe he is back in an earlier time period and seem confused about modern things, because to Ludwig, it will not be the current year, it would be the year he believes it to be. Other times after a horrible episode or nightmare, he will believe to be trapped at a certain battle so he seems even more like a solider than normal, or will be extremely paranoid until finally being reassured. If one is up for the challenge to reassure him, gentle words and calm tones are definitely needed.

Ambition/Life-long Dream: To ensure his people are truly happy. Keep the ones he cares about safe, even if it means he has to go through hell again.

Occupation/Job: Personification of Germany (only his boss, military officials, and other nations know this); He also works half time as an engineer.

L O O K S A N D A P P E A R A N C E

Blood Type: O. I chose this since according to some cultures, personality can be determined by blood type and the O blood type matches best with Ludwig’s personality, not because it is the universal donor blood type.

Body Type/Looks: He has a defined jaw, with a narrow but elegant nose, and high, structured cheek bones. He has blond hair that is normally slicked back with sideburns framing his face and icy-blue eyes. As for his physical build, he is quite muscular and very tall, standing around 5’11″/180 cm. His skin is very fair (II on the Fitzpatrick scale; and about a 10 on the von Luschan’s scale), occasionally getting a light tan but more often than not, sunburning instead, when he is out in the sun. He is quite muscular and well-toned, which proves that he enjoys working out and training to stay in shape.

Outfit(s): He wears suits for formal occasions and when going somewhere he needs to look his best, such as a formal date, world conference meetings, weddings, etc. During WWI/WWII, he would wear the military outfits associated with those time periods. Most of his uniforms are preserved and kept neat to this day, remaining in his closet but some, he can not look at because they cause simply too much pain of remembering what happened when wearing them. When he is casual, he loves to wear jeans and collared shirts since he tries his best to still look nice without being too vain about his appearance nowadays.

Accessories: A watch on his right wrist, gloves to go with his military uniforms when needed, and a pair of reading glasses. The pair of reading glasses he wears primarily when doing paperwork and reading, as he has grown to need them after reading small fonts for so long.

Makeup: None.

Hairstyle(s): Ludwig’s hair is generally always slicked back, and he hates to have it messed up because he believes it makes him look professional and more business like in his opinion. It also helps keep it out of his face this way. When he finally lets it out of its gelled confinement, such as when he is sleeping, it is naturally soft to touch, despite the amount of gel products he uses during the day and is lazily left in his face with his short bangs ending at his eyebrows.

Scent: A musky smell such as leather, sweat, and gunpowder; also tends to smell faintly of dogs.

Scars, Tattoos, Jewelry and/or Piercings: He has no tattoos or piercings, mainly because he would hate the needles and possible infection that come with getting either one, but does wear an Iron Cross necklace. He has various little scars littering his arms, forearms, etc. One noticeable scar is just over where his heart is, in the shape of a ‘x’. If one looks closely, there are three vertical slashes that look like claw marks on his chest as well; the three slashes represents how when he was West Germany, he was divided by Britain, France, and America during the Berlin Wall but since the Wall has crumbled, it is only faint outlines of these slashes. Perhaps the most noticeable one, however, is a large swastika on his back given to him by his Fuhrer after trying to defy him. If one believes he is Holy Roman Empire, there is also a scar on his stomach as if a sword had stabbed him there, and even though the outline of it remains, he tends to get quite confused and admit he does not even remember how he received this wound when others ask about it.

E X T R A I N F O R M A T I O N

Aster: Aster is a Golden Retriever with long fur that drives Ludwig crazy because of how much he sheds at times and deep brown eyes. He often has to vacuum up the stray fur that is shed, but really loves Aster just as much as his other two dogs. Aster is a rather shy dog, a bit timid around strangers, sometimes even to the point of being skittish around them because of his past. This dog was adopted by Gilbert, later given to Ludwig because he saw him at the pound and was about to be “put to sleep”. However, despite this, once Aster is warmed up to them and the stranger proves to not be a threat, he is very kind and sweet. Aster will love curling up or trying to shower the guest and his masters with affection by playing nipping at their fingers, chasing his tail around them, playfully pouncing on them, or even licking them.

Blackie: Blackie is short-haired dachshund that is actually both black and tan like most common dachshund, gained her name from when Ludwig found her when he was in his late teens. She was covered in soot, and he thought that was her fur. Only after he took her in, named her, and gave her a bath did he realize his mistake. However, she had already known that to be her name, the name has always stuck. She is not very good at following Ludwig’s orders because she rather play than preform tricks and train for Ludwig. Blackie also can be a bit jealous of visitors since they tend to take his focus off her, and sometimes even Aster and Berlitz if she is feeling ignored but all in all, she is a dog who loves having fun.

Berlitz: A German Shepard, whose “bark is worse than his bite”. He seems very intimidating to most people, being the dog feared most by them whenever they visit Ludwig. He does not realize he seems to scare people with his bark and his bark seems even louder to others at times because he is deaf in one ear. Berlitz used to help out with the police force, but one time, there was a gun that went off too close to him and that is how his right ear lost its keen hearing abilities. After that, Ludwig absolutely loved him and the police let him adopt him (after finding a replacement with their personified nation’s help). If you want to command him to do something, you have to speak into his left ear but he is a very intelligent and smart dog, the keenest and smartest one out of the three, even if Ludwig does not like playing favorites with his beloved pets. He seems scary to some people but he is extremely protective of his other two younger “siblings”, Aster and Blackie, as well as to his master.
