Barma watched it all with a raised eyebrow, but now that they had sauntered away to do their own thing, he had little interest in them anymore. He set his wine glass down on a nearby table and scanned the receding party for anyone new to chat to for a while. Maybe even someone to bring home for the night, but he definitely didn’t need to. He had already fed.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted someone that looked extremely uncomfortable in his own clothes. With a smirk, he made his way over to the blonde.

“Fun party isn’t it?” he asked sarcastically with a knowing smile. “How’s the business, mister Arion?”

“I hardly think a little fun would be dangerous,” he huffed. “Unless you want to take this out of my comfort zone, which is to say, outside. In that case, I may not be so willing. I’m not into alleyways. How about somewhere more comfortable?”

He raises an eyebrow at the newcomer and her strange fangs, but decides not to question it. “Today has been a fairly interesting day,” he says. “It’s not everyday I find two people from the Crust mingling with people from the Mantle in such broad daylight. Not that it’s day.”

“Oh and Cessily?” he looks at the girl again. “I was only interested in your talents and had to decide whether you were to be my fifth assassin this week. But since you’re not, of course I have to go off and find some new fun.”

“And that’s precisely why I’d rather watch from the sidelines,” he sighs dramatically. “I have enough excitement in my life with ten assassinations per week. But you know, it’s rather hard to operate in the Mantle if you don’t have enemies, because everyone’s out to get you here. And I’m out for a few people as well so, you know, fair game.”

He looks at Cessily. “I don’t really do dirty work. Or paperwork. I’m not good with work in general,” he smirks at a particularly fond memory that comes up. “I’m more of a person who likes to have fun. But I think you’re too young for that.”

He turns his chin up slightly at Elara’s invitation. “Oh? What kind of fun, Miss Elara?” he lets her name roll off his tongue lowly. “Are you sure you can handle me?”

“And what? You people of the Crust don’t walk around fake smiling and bitching about your problems?” Barma raised an eyebrow. He crossed his arms and gave Cessily an amused smirk. “You must live in an utopia, then. What I wouldn’t give if I didn’t hear anyone tell me what happened to them in the past month that they can’t ‘ever forgive’.”

He looks at Elara with an even more amused expression. “You know my type don’t get involved in things that could potentially put our lives at risk, since we’re not a plentiful type,” he shrugs and fails to adjust the red fur thrown over his shoulders that slides down a bit. He looks back to Cessily. “And yes, I do know how to handle myself. You can fight your way out if you must, and I could too, if I must, but I’d prefer not to shed any blood. In fact, little girl–”

He leans forward and looks directly into Cessily’s eyes with his own glowing gold ones. “–I could order you to shed blood right now.”

With a smile, he straightens himself back up again. “If you think life up here is some fancy leisurely stroll, you should move up here and see what it’s actually like,” he shakes his head slowly and looks back at Elara. “I’m sure you know how exciting life is when you get ten attempted assassinations per week.”

Annoyed at the interruption and also for having Cessily’s attention stolen from him, his power sparks again, very briefly, that makes everyone else glance over for a second. With a sigh and shake of his head, Barma joins them in their conversation. “Yes, my name is Barma, as this woman so very rudely interrupted me,” he says. He doesn’t recognize her at all, but her calloused hands told him she wasn’t a regular around here either.

“So judging by the fact that Miss Cessily here fought her way in and you obviously don’t frequent around here, what are you two doing in the Mantle?” he crossed his arms slowly and looked at them both curiously. It wasn’t uncommon for contractors to be in the Mantle even if they lived in the Crust. “Everything’s rather bland up here.”

“That’s a good girl,” he muttered to himself and smiled at her, his eyes glinting–dangerously? No, amusingly. He motioned for one of the waiters to step up and take her bag, although he eyes it cautiously from a distance. Truly curious. “You, waiter, take it to the bag check. And if one thing is missing when she gets it back, I will personally attend to you.”

A frazzled looking waiter steps up and quickly takes the girl’s “purse” and leaves without a word. With a snap of his fingers, the crowd disperses as if lifted from a spell and goes back to their earlier activities from before she arrived. Barma walks over and bows deeply again.

“Hello milady,” he says smoothly in a rich baritone. He holds out a hand for her to take. “May I take this dance? And perhaps your name, too?”

The commotion left Barma for a bit of a twist, as he did not anticipate any entertainment this evening (or actually, any entertainment at all). He went to the parties for their fine wine and delicious food, and certainly not the company. After all, humans were a bit of a nuisance, and also too eager to please. He glances one last time at the kitchen door before making his way over to the newcomer.

Another human, but it’s not like there are a shortage in Heliopolis.

“Truly a grand entrance,” Barma applauds slowly and steps through the crowd that parts like the Red Sea for him. His power sparks subconsciously, and soon the whole room has their eyes on him. “We don’t get entertainment like that here.”

He practically oozes confidence and attractiveness, and certainly doesn’t seem like he’s short on either. As an incubus, he had a knack for charming people, whether male or female, human or not. Most of the time Barma doesn’t even do it consciously.

“A drink, milday?” he bows once in courtesy and amusement. “Or if you prefer, a dance?”

The room shifts their gaze to her as he redirects them from him.

    Name: Barma Aman Alekar
    Age: 24
    Race: Incubus
    Residence: Mantle
    Gang Affiliation: N/A
    Job: N/A
Powers: mind control by eye contact; ability to draw/attract/charm people to him. Barma’s mind control power can be resisted by sheer willpower, although he will resist back. His power to draw people to him is subconscious and he can’t actually control much of it, so he can never be discreet.
    Appearance:
    barma
this image is commissioned by me from amaranthian from FR and may only be used by me

    Bio/History:
As an incubus and the son of a prince, Barma has always lived an extravagant lifestyle. Due to this, he is known to spend frivolously and always expects the world to bow down to him. He is very arrogant and knows his way around the business world, and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty to achieve a goal. He doesn’t much care for humans or anyone who isn’t an incubus/succubus, but he likes to mess around with them a lot. Barma is always looking for a warm bed for the night.

He has ten other brothers and sisters that are scattered around the world, and only a few of them live in Heliopolis with him. His childhood was filled with company, for sure, but he’s the third oldest and by default, one of the most important. While Barma may not bow down to anyone, he’s very flexible and obedient around his two older brothers.

Barma lives for the thrill of Heliopolis, as he always expects to be targeted or killed anywhere at any time. He enjoys his adrenaline rushes.

    The Gangs

    Burning Bomb
Currently in control of half of the Crust. Its members are known to have fire powers and they deal in illegal weapon trading throughout the rest of the city.

    Shining Rabbit
Currently in control of the other half of the Crust. The gang deals in a number of casinos that are known to cheat people of their money. Most of their members are skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

    Klink
In control of the Lith, and gives out jobs to most of the people in the Crust. This gang (or “organization” as they like to call themselves) is run by wealthy businessmen and joined by prospective young students aiming to make dirty money.

The Mantle & Core are not controlled by gangs.

Heliopolis is divided into many districts and sub-districts, with gangs controlling each and every sector. The only neutral area is the city center, where government buildings stand. There are four main sectors of the city: the Core, the Mantle, the Lith, and the Crust.

    The Crust
This is where most of Heliopolis’ residents live, as it is the section reserved for the middle- and lower-classes. Police control is strict, but only for anyone breaking the rules of whichever gang is in charge of the territory. Murder and muggings happen often, and most residents carry a weapon around on a daily basis. Those unfortunate enough to be enemies of the head gang are wiped from the map, and those who openly support the gang are rewarded.

    The Lith
Heliopolis’ industrial district. Many of Heliopolis’ factories and production markets spawn here, and this sector is mostly controlled by wealthy businessmen. Most of the residents of the Crust go to work in the Lith as it is an easy job to get with average pay. Trains go from the Lith to the Crust and vice versa every twenty-five minutes without stop.

    The Mantle
The residential district for Heliopolis’ upper-middle or first class. Families of high ranking gang members or gang leaders reside here along with wealth businessmen, government officials, and anyone else wealthy enough to afford a house in the Mantle. The Mantle is located on higher elevation than the rest of the city (with the exception of the Core, which is connected directly with the Mantle). Police control is soft, and everyone prefers to buy their way out of a jail cell and a dirty record.

    The Core
Heliopolis’ business and government district. This is the only neutral zone for Heliopolis’ gang struggles, as this it the only sector actually controlled by the government. Many people of many different walks of life go through the Core everyday, as it the center of the city. Thanks to strict police control, this is also the most peaceful sector of the city. Conflicts rarely break out here, although protests occur often.
