Now, some specifics on being a magic user…
Each magical girl gains a single magical ability in addition to gaining minor regeneration, increased reflexes and durability and an increased resistance to pain and proficiency with a single weapon of choice. There will be no time-travel, sorry.

Soul Gems: I will be using a point system. When your character runs out of Soul Gem (SG) points, it will have 24 hours to regain points before transforming into a witch. Your character starts with 100 points. Using a magical ability takes up energy from your character’s soul gem. A minor ability (eg: Mami’s ribbons) takes up 3 SG points per use. A Signature Attack (eg: Tiro Finale) will consume 7 SG points per use. Players may choose to expend all of their remaining SG points in a single suicidal attack which deals a large amount of damage, killing the user in the process. These attacks are guaranteed to hit and kill NPC and Witch characters. SG points may be regained by using Grief Seeds dropped by a Witch. Each use will restore 25 SG points. Higher level witches will drop Grief Seeds with multiple uses.
