O.K. So this is more of a community question, so if this is the wrong sounding board I apologuise. I’m a total skyrie newbie.

I would love to learn Japanese but I have two major blockers

1. Time

2. Money

I have had some success with the Japanse Ammo videos on youtube, I did try learning the syllabries but didn’t get very far and TBH would prefer to learn the spoken language (albeit alongside the written form).

I also used tried using language exchange sites, but dropped the idea for several reasons:-

1. A lot of them are almost like foreign dating sites and ask you to upload a photo of yourself. I am NOT looking to date anyone and for various reasons do not want my picture online.

2. Even if you skip the above a lot of users want to use IM / Chat. I don’t have time for either. I once suggested using mailed voice recordings but nobody seemed to buy into that. I just don’t have the time for face-to-face immediate communication.

So can anyone reccomend the best free learning resources for an absolute beginner? They have to be free.
