This division specializes in the research of the realm of the metaphysical. Time, space, alternate universes, and the like are mainly researched here. A similar point of research is the ability for certain people to exert strange forces to change the world around them: in other words, magic.

*The first stop in Apple’s tour of the Aspen Institute is the Metaphysics lab. Apple seems keen to check it out.*

Alyssa follows behind Apple. A multitude of gadgets are scattered about, however, the biggest is a large blue crystal in the middle of a table. “Welcome to what I like to call the “Wow This Is Really Confusing” Department, named after something I said a lot about this part when I was little. Here, we study the very building blocks of time and space, workarounds to the physics laws we are usually forced to behave by, and the energies beyond space that people like me can control. Translation: we research time and space in order to bend them with stuff such as time machines and warp drives, and study magic here.”

Wow this is really confusing o~o. From what I understand you’re building a time machine? That’s so cool! Which era would you wanna visit first?

“Heh, we haven’t started on time machines yet. Our current project is this.” She picks up a small device from the counter. “The Buster Thruster, a warp drive much stronger than any out there. You know what a warp drive is from sci-fi shows and movies, right?”

*She giggles when she hears the name* Heeheeheehee, Buster Thruster. I haven’t seen that many sci-fi movies but I think I heard one of my brainiac friends from back in the old world mention those warp drive things when she was building a… what was it again? Hyperdimension Repulsor Field or something like that. I think it was like a bubble that stops people teleporting in the house.

“I got the name from a web series my cousin Serina watches. Anyway, a warp drive… Well, you ever heard of the idea that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light normally? Well, what a warp drive does is bend space and time around something, sending it at speeds higher than light speed.”

Oh wow, that’s like over 500 million miles an hour! I bet it hurts if you trip over a rock or something ^^”
