Biography

Name: Sandy Boxer or Jabillo.

Species: Hura Crepitans – Cuscuta Compacta as vines and Penicillium Chrysogenum as mold – along with an indeterminable number of life forces from various animal species.

Age: One-hundred thirty – though two-hundred fifty-five when considering time not spent sapient.

Gender: Male – though monoecious in sex.

Height: Thirteen feet – excluding the crown – while standing in the normal position, with legs bent at right angles, at both the waist and the knee. Nearly nineteen feet with the canopy included, and twenty-seven feet when standing fully upright, though such a stance is rarely ever taken, as it is less stable and balanced.

Weight: Three-hundred thirty pounds.

Abilities:

Bark — Protective bark that can withstand blunt force trauma equivalent to a high speed truck impact and handle a decent amount of cutting damage, being able to dull a normal metal axe after a few decently strong swings, relatively, without penetrating deep enough to pierce the four inch thick bark layer.

Spikes — Retractable and extendable spikes in four rows separated by ninety degrees down the length of the trunk, legs, and forearms. Singular, longer, but still retractable and extendable, spikes exist straight within the palm and elbow, as well as the two side branches of the crown beneath the foliage, sticking outwards.

Sap — Excretion of caustic sap, especially from spikes – that can blind, burn, and poison. Sap also acts as a fire-resistance and electrical insulator.

Vines — Dodder vines that are housed inside the trunk and can be extended or retracted through the “eye sockets” and “mouth.” These can reach ten feet out and are highly dexterous, as well as being capable of changing thickness via water tension – ranging from tendrils thin enough for an average human to wrap their hand around, to ones nearly as thick as his body. They can even be controlled remotely for a while after being separated from the tree, the duration ranging from about a day in more dry, dark, and cold areas to about three days in wet, lit, and heated atmospheres.

Hydration — Water can be absorbed highly efficiently through the lower “legs” and vines and emitted through the vines or leaves.

Explosives — Fruits that grow in the canopy that can violently explode and fire out shrapnel at high speed, range, and spread – they can be triggered while still attached in the branches or plucked and to be used in a variety of ways, such as crushing to be able to throw the shrapnel, throwing as an detonating projectile, planting as traps, or holding to augment hand strikes with the explosive force.

Mold — A penicillin mold grows inside of the trunk and on some sections of the exterior as well – namely the upper “arms,” lower “legs,” and “face.” This can be scraped off and used to treat infections, inflammation, and pain.

Orbs — The twin glowing orbs reside inside the hollow of the tree, floating up high enough to be visible in the two holes of the “mask” of the “face.” This causes them to resemble eyes, and, quite aptly, they do function as primary sensory features. They are receptors for visual and aural stimuli, which is why they usually hover near the “eye sockets,” in order to receive the maximum amount of information without exiting the safety of the tree. They are able to sink lower into the cavity in order to become more sheltered, but this sacrifices almost all vision and a lot of hearing. They can exit the body, but that is highly dangerous, as the orbs are the life-energy of the deceased animals that was then bound and contained which drives and manifests the identity of Jabillo. If the orbs were to be removed for a prolonged period of time or displaced a great distance away from the tree, they would eventually either dissipate or transform into a highly chaotic and bestial force bent on vengeance or even general violence, and probably seek out a new vessel or host – and if either events were to happen to both orbs, Jabillo would cease to exist. The plant life would continue to live, but without any identity or sapience. The orbs can also be destroyed, even while within the tree, which would bring about the same fate.

Glow — The intensity of the light emitted by the orbs can usually be changed at will, though not always, as red alert can rarely be dimmed, and deep blue can rarely be brightened, and purple haze most often retains a more neutral luminance. The orbs produce a white light so dull that can hardly be observed when Jabillo is in an “off” or “asleep” state. The orbs glow different colors, which denote different states of mind or mode, and the color change cannot be controlled. Yellow is the standard, stand-by state.

– Red – Danger. Emergency. Extreme alert. This occurs when in critical danger or when a threat is perceived as potentially lethal, to Jabillo or any entity that Jabillo may be attempting to defend.

– Orange – Caution. Uncertainty. On guard. Essentially, a threat-assessment and general deterrence mode, often accompanied by verbal warnings or interrogations from Jabillo, the extension of spikes, and the readying for conflict.

– Yellow – Standard. Normal. Stand-by. The most common state. Perceptive, but not defensive.

– Green – At ease. The lowest mode that be achieved through external orders, characterized by a resistance towards physical conflict and greater willingness to attempt negotiation for longer before glow color levels shift towards red.

– Blue – Tranquility. This has almost never occurred, as it is such a calm state that perception is slightly lowered, and the instinct of self-preservation is weakened faintly.

– Purple – Confusion. This applies for either external or internal confusion.

Miscellaneous — Can surprisingly jump quite high, given the hefty weight, at about fifteen feet off the ground. Legs can burrow into hard, frozen soil, and even somewhat fragile mineral layers, thanks to agile movements, sharpness, and durability. Capable of lifting and throwing immense weights up to twenty-thousand pounds, as well as uprooting forty-five feet tall trees. Can reach a run speed of sixty-five miles per hour at full stride and sustain it for about an hour at a time. Able to use vibrations in the ground to sense the presence and movements of things in the vicinity, this is fairly weak when uprooted but becomes decently powerful when rooted — able to determine the location and direction of a moving person within a mile radius.

Biography:

A jabillo tree was used as a vessel by a shaman to house the energies and lives of creatures they had sacrificed in an attempt to attain more grand powers. When caught committing these deeds by a nature spirit, it confronted the shaman to make them atone for their mistreatment of life – however, the shaman had grown strong enough to threaten the spirit, forcing it to flee. The nature spirit then returned and enchanted the tree to be able to harness the souls stored inside of it – granting it sapience and mobility, giving it the ability to potentially stand against the shaman, or at least aid the spirit. They confronted the shaman together, and the ensuing chaos led to the tree and nature spirit being injured, but forcing the shaman to flee. After taking the time for both to heal, the spirit asked the tree to track down the shaman for retribution, which the jabillo tree continues to do on their vast and long journey. It eventually picked up some language and customs of humans over the course of a hundred and some-odd years, as well as the name Sandy Boxer and Jabillo. He has started to identify as male, as most people he has come into contact with have referred to him as such, probably because of his large size and the accompanying deep voice that is comprised of a legion of voices speaking in unison, though many would assume it is just the voices bouncing around inside the hollow of the tree, which is partially true. He speaks in a fairly robotic tone, almost never using contractions, and often using much more technical language than is necessary. Due to his origin and the essence of his existence, he is lightly attracted to the energy of entities with strong and close ties to biological nature, especially plant-life.
