HIS THEMESONG:

Mehmet Osman is my OC Turkey. Yes, this account used to be Sadık Adnan, and it’s not anymore.

Mehmet came to being after the Ottoman Empire became the Republic of Turkey. In my mind, Sadık transformed into Mehmet after the Empire transformed into the republic. Mehmet still has the mask although he doesn’t wear it as often as he used to when he was Sadık.

Persona:

(AS SADIK)
As Sadık (according to canon), Mehmet was a lively, vigorous man. As the Ottoman Empire, he was a powerful man who held sway for quite a while in his sphere of influence of Eastern Europe, Eartern North Africa and the Middle East. It used to be that he wanted to conquer Europe, but as Mehmet, he had a change of heart, wishing to be friends, realizing that respect, not fear, is what made people powerful in the long-run. He used to be merry, and friendly, but rather competitive with /anyone/ who wished to challenge him.

Overconfident and a bit of a show-off, Sadık /always/ downplayed his friends by berating them on how they couldn’t get with the times. Sadık always had a sweet-tooth for asure and lokum, and a partiality for apple juice and rakı.

(AS MEHMET)
He’s toned down quite a bit. Even though he’s still energetic, now, instead of being overly competitive about certain things, he’s content to sit and enjoy watching idiots fight as he takes his prize. Every now and then, Mehmet enjoys a good debate. He’s chilled out quite a bit and realizes that friendship is a far easier tool to use than force. Ergo, he has decided on wanting to join the European Union (which has been met with some resistance due to the Armenia question. He denies anything happened to Armenia, which is a lie). He’s still merry and friendly, but won’t bother you unless you have something that interests him. He’s become quieter now, and he’s not that talkative, and doesn’t beat around the bush.

Even though he’s not a show-off, he still lets his things do the talking for him, from time to time. He lives in luxury and loves every bit of it, smoking hookah from time to time, having the occasional sip of rakı, etc. He’s still got a sweet tooth, but he controls himself quite well now. This has given him an excellent muscular and athletic figure. He’s taken up belly dancing and is an expert in it. Apple Juice isn’t that much on the list of things he enjoys anymore, but he’ll not be averse to it. He’s become a brilliant cook, specializing in middle-eastern and Turkic cuisine, with his baklava being a signature dish.
Mehmet has also taken up horse-whispering and has realized that he has a gift. He has his way with horses and can basically tame wild ones with a few tricks up his sleeve. No one knows how, and he isn’t willing to tell. He still wears a mask. Says it’s to keep an air of mystery about him. In reality, it has a black, yet see-through (from his side) cloth that hides his eyes. No one has seen what he has, and his eyes show that he has been through quite a bit.

History:

I’d tell you about it, but Wikipedia tells it better: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Turkey

Relations:

Greece: Oh, dear God. This is… Where do I even begin? Turkey and Greece are Fire and Ice, basically. Frienemies from the start. Sadık used to Greece’s boss. Mehmet sees them as untrustworthy. He hates it when Greeks call his crown jewel of a city Constantinople instead of Istanbul.

Romania: Like with Greece, the relations between these two nations is that of fire and ice as well. He respects Romania though, and has had a great influence in his/her culture when he was Sadık. Now, Mehmet’s relation with Romania are much warmer than they used to be.

Hungary: Seems to me that Sadık seems to have antagonized very many nations in this area, since Hungary /also/ has fire/ice relations with him. As Mehmet, things have cooled between them too, and they’ve come to terms with most things.

Austria: Since Hungary and Austria have such close ties, Austria doesn’t see the Turk with great happiness, and more as a threat. But now that the Empire has become a republic, as with Hungary, things have cooled between them.

Netherlands: There’s a friendly rivalry between these two as the holder of the title of Tulip nation

Armenia: Before his transformation into Mehmet, Sadık was brutal with Armenia. He beat him and hurt him extremely badly (What happened exactly depends on the Armenia OC I’m RPing with. PS, this refers to Armenian Genocide). Relations are still frosty between these two because of this.

His alter-ego (Abbas Ottobastard Ɛmpire Karakaya (This is one of the best RPers I ever met)): Mehmet sees this person with great apprehension. He cannot believe he created Abbas as Sadık. He constantly is at odds with Abbas and is likely to get irritated when Abbas’s around.

More to come, please be patient
