Once there was a man who rose up in the first age of pirates. This man made people in awe of the things he had done and what he will do. He became the king of the pirates but his life was coming to an end. Instead of laying down and dying like a sick dog, he turned himself in to have a quick death. Upon this pedestal he claimed he had a treasure. The dying age of pirates was re-sparked by the dying words of a single man. That man was Gol D Roger.
Within this second burst of pirates, an unexpected child grew to be an astonishing pirate. His climb started by his appetite, eating something he should not have. He lost his ability to swim and scorned his curse, which later he used as a great gift. This boy could expand to extensive lengths and reach out the furthest of distances. He grew into a man both respected and feared despite his single-mindedness. He claimed the title of King as a promise to the losses he had. This man was Monkey D Luffy.
It was not shortly after taking on the title as King that an opposing force did raise. Nomikomu was so intent on purifying the world that it seemed even petty thieves were a target of his brutality. He murdered and bribed his way to the highest rank he could, then honor being asked of him to advance had stalled his rise to power. Upon a whim, an odd bounty was made. The bounty was as marked that the sole Marine that could cut down the King of the Pirates would replace and become the Fleet Admiral. Nomikomu would not avoid this opportunity to slay his way into the highest spot possible.
Armed with his best Marines and his strongest abilities toned to what he deemed perfection, he approached the Straw Hat Crew and engaged in combat. The battle was bloody and long but in the end, he had lost all of his crew to gain the heads of all but one of the Straw Hat pirates. He had no care that the bard of their ship had taken off after the battle, the main threats were gone. Nomikomu returned to the higher ups, dropping the heads at their feet. He was promoted and the former Fleet Admiral left in shame.
Slaughter began as the Shichibukai were forced to kill Yonkou one at a time, then Supernovas. Some fled fearing they may be next and some went into hiding, but not all could escape Nomikomu’s bloodthirsty wrath. He raised more men from the Marines to slaughter the remaining Shichibukai, hunting the rest down as he destroyed minor pirates along his path of destruction. He eliminated every small pirate and even anyone who dare sneeze at him on his gory path to purity. He would continue to hunt for pirates, not knowing that in secret, a new age was going to rise right beneath his violent path of chaos.[/center]

She had been sailing for many days now as she took her weaver through the water and soon was coming up on dawn Island. She smiled and had finally made it her red coat was blowing in the wind with her red hair as she soared through the water. The canons where floating around her in a circle as they skipped across the sea heading for the island pulling up she stepped off the boat and smiled to the man nodding. “Only gonna be here a few days.” She then headed into the island her bare feet slapping the ground her sword strapped to her back under her coat hidden under the coat where 5 flash pistols and 10 sky iron blades. Taking a deep breath she pinched the bridge of her nose where her black sunglasses sat that came out on the sides to points but only enough to be extended but not to be overly so they were a smaller version of her fathers. Glancing around as she moved she slipped her hands in her pockets and watched the island pass by as she headed for the nearest town. “So this is the low lands…” she said having never been off Skypiea before.

Carina’s hands finished tying the deep blue handkerchief around the collar of her Marine uniform and then brushed the front of her white sleeveless shirt and blue pants to get rid of any pieces of fuzzy lint remaining. Shooting a winning smile at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, the young marine put on her standard issue hat and then rushed out of the door on her way to the mess hall. It wasn’t too early in the morning, but her troop had recently been put on an altered schedule for night-time training. After all, Carina thought to herself, pirates won’t always attack on bright, sunny days. The switch did throw her sleeping schedule out of whack though, and Carina couldn’t help but yawn loudly.

The drilling, training and late night exercises Carina had been put through the last three days had really done a number on the girl’s appetite and now she could eat as much as any full-grown sailor at the base, and just as often. As Carina passed by a couple of windows looking out onto the sea, the young Marine had to wonder whether any ships would be attempting the journey into the Grand Line today. When a few other Marines passed her on their way to the mess hall, Carina picked up the pace. There would be enough food for everyone, but with only a limited amount of time to eat, she didn’t want to get stuck in a long line.

The Marine base would seem to see some action from an unknown ship. It was rather small and fishing gear could be seen on the boat in plain view. As it got closer, the name on the ship was in clear view as the “Mindyou Rownbus Iness”. One of the marines currently on duty due to being late to the mess hall was forced to check the ship registry. The details on this ship was that it passed through once every other week to fish in the Grand Line and then to take the catches back. This marine had the ship dock next to them and have the captain come off. The man who ran the vessel was tall, not a giant though. He was built with a light muscular frame that seemed to be from hulling fish in their nets. He had black hair down to his mid back and was wearing a brown tattered coat. The pants were not much to be spoken for either. The shoes looked like they had been recently bought though had a scuff or two. The man’s face was slightly angular but didn’t take from his appeal. He pulled his documents out from his inner pocket and handed it to the marine. Those around them would hear the man’s voice, calm but mildly higher in pitch like a tenor, “Must we do this every two weeks?”
The marine answered, “Yes sir! Let me just call down someone to run this to be verified and we will be done with it.” The captain nodded and watched the marine walk over to a snail and gently touch it. “I need an able body here to run documents to verification and back.” He would then end the transmission and wait silently, staring at the captain.

Carina dashed into the mess hall and quickly obtained a square plastic tray with some scrambled eggs and bread as well as a glass of diluted orange juice for breakfast. Placing her tray down at an empty spot where a few of her fellow troop mates were enjoying their meal, Carina began to shovel the food into her mouth at a steady yet speedy pace using a fork in one hand and a spoon in the other. The marines sitting directly next to her looked on in horrified astonishment at the speed with which this girl was eating. Every two seconds or so, Carina stopped to wipe off her face with a napkin before chowing down again.

Then, one of the snails situated in the mess hall began to speak, signaling the need for a Marine to head over to the gate dock and run some paperwork around. The mess hall went silent as everyone pointedly stared at Carina. She noticed the quiet yet meaningful gazes and gulped down her remaining mouthful of fried egg. “Alright, alright. I’m going,” she called out before someone out-right ordered her to go fetch the documents and got to her feet.

She saluted the chief petty officer in the mess hall and then grabbed her uneaten slice of bread. In one swift move, Carina crammed the entire slice into her mouth and then dashed out of the door. The marine officer sighed, but sent a transmission back from the snail. “Roger that, just dispatched a seaman to your location.”

Carina headed over through the halls towards the dock where the new ship was waiting to be processed, devouring the last remnants of her breakfast as she did so. When the girl arrived at her destination, she gave the marine in charge a salute, “Seaman Apprentice, Carina Skylark reporting for duty.”

The man holding the paperwork smirked as if he had something against her, his voice thrashing out, “Took you long enough.”
“No need to worry sir,” The strange captain of the fishing boat said, getting an odd look from the marine, “Fish can wait for a sweet young, Seaman Apprentice was it? To take some documents back and forth like they do every two weeks.” He smiled at Carina and decided to ask straight to her, “Do these guys always give you such a hard time?” He folded his arms across his chest. The marine while handing the documents seem about to scold her before she even spoke but the fishing man said, “Let the girl talk, I have time.” He stood with a straight posture, just needing to tilt his head a bit down to look at the girl. He gave off a friendly feeling yet was intimidating enough that the marine backed off, setting the paperwork down for her to get and going back to watching the dock for more boats to process.

The harsh tone of the marine waiting for her made Carina flinch slightly as her mind already pictured her precious free time slipping away and transforming into an extra hour of punitive cleaning duty. Then to her surprise, the captain of the fishing boat trying to enter the Grand Line spoke up and defended her. Her gaze switched over to the elderly yet still fairly handsome captain who had just spoken when he began to speak directly to her and completely overpowered the marine standing next to him with his presence.

It was strange because under normal circumstances, a civilian captain would be terrified and cowed by the marines since his whole livelihood depended on their permission to enter the Grand Line. Yet, the man in front of her wrested the authority from the marine in charge easily without even a threat or harsh word. He would have made a great Marine Captain. I wonder why he chose fishing…

Realizing that he had asked her two questions, Carina adjusted her gaze just a bit upward to look at the captain. He was giving off a friendly feeling rather than a lecherous one which would have put her senses on guard. She blinked to snap herself out of her musings.

“That’s right, this is my second year here at the base.” She gave the kind captain a cheerful smile back, fighting down the slight blush she had at the unexpected compliment. “They can be a little difficult, but it’s not too bad. I guess it’s just a tradition to haze the new recruits.” She didn’t want to say anything too incriminating since once the captain left she would be left dealing with the fallout. Nonetheless, Carina couldn’t bring herself to lie to the kind man with the forceful presence and she found herself being a little more open than she initially planned to be.

“And people here are pretty suspicious of Devil Fruit Users, so I get the short end of the stick.” She spoke slightly consipiratorially. She probably shouldn’t say anything more, but the marine had backed off so she took a risk and asked the question burning in her mind, her eyes shining with curiosity, “So what is the Grand Line like? Is it really just like all the stories say?”

-Axel walked with his hands behind his back a black shirt covering the scar on his chest he hated wearing clothes but it was polite to the humans he figured as they were forced to wear clothing as well. He hadn’t been away from the grave for long before the normal stares from the elders who still remembered Arlong and Hordy and there wrong doings looked down on Axel. He went to a local tavern spotting a chick in a red coat only thing that struck him as odd was she was wearing a coat in such tropic climate. He passed through and sat down at the bar laying down the needed cash to get a drink and wait to see if anything happened in here. He sipped at the drink sighing as to him it was simply water this alcohol wouldn’t even give him a buzz. He drank in a gulp turning to the woman and asking if she had something stronger. She brought him a small dish of a red liquid and called it super sake so he went to pay but she said it was on the house as she would be rolling him into a bed in a few minutes that wouldn’t be free. He smirked and tipped it back feelings it burn his throat but only a small tingle went through him before he looked at her”sorry guess I wont be needing that room after all”. Axel turned watching the people of the tavern, humans were so weird from the clothing to there attitude to one another, hatred for there differences was strange to Axel as no two fishman looked the same. He figured he would never know his father since he was probably a shark while he was told his mother was a Mermaid. He was unsure of who either were but he was told his father was a pirate and no one would tell him more when made him wonder what horrid thing he must have done. He turned and ordered another one of the cups before walking back outside feeling fine. He watched a group of kids edging towards him so he simply stood still and let them examine his form. He walked over to a stand and bought about ten pieces of threat before reaching into his mouth and pulling out his teeth and allowed a new set to regrow before he poked holes through them and threaded the string through” if any of you ever come to my home, present these and you will never be harmed, but say they were a gift don’t use them as a trophy”. He handed them out before dropping the extra teeth on the stand” those should be useful to you”. He watched the elders try and convince the kids to throw them away but they never did. His teeth were real and the only way to get a tooth that perfect was it to be a gift so anyone but a fishman would have broken it. He spotted the woman in red once again and finally let allowed her to peak his interest so he walked over” so what are you doing on this island as your clearly not a local”.-

The captain watched the young woman and felt her confidence growing. He listened carefully to every word and let it linger in his thoughts as he considered her initial answer to the second question. He remained with a smile until his smile would droop slightly at hearing the suspicious nature towards Devil Fruit users held against her by the others. He sighed remembering a time where no matter what the fruit might have done, just the mere mention of one possessing such a thing would bring fear into hearts of those around them, or admiration. Then the question she presented to him made his smile return a bit. He waved a hand out so they could walk to her duty and talk on the way.

“I don’t know how to answer that,” He spoke with some concern as if there was a wrong answer. He would let her take the lead as his arms hung to his side, flopping back and forth as he walked. “Some parts of the Grand Line make you feel like you’ve never even entered it.” He seemed to look up to the ceiling a bit as his voice trailed into a sense of remembering the wonder he had on his first time. “The rest of it is so fantastic and diverse. You never know who you will meet or what you will see. Some islands are cold as ice in the middle of summer, others hot as deserts in the middle of winter. There are some islands that seem so far fetched that they must be from the future and yet another island has creatures long since thought to have been passed. Even on a simple trip meant for nothing, an adventure could be had by a wrong turn or a rogue storm.” He threw his arms up, “Everything is just fantas-” He stopped short as his right arm popped out.

He saw it land on the floor and it stayed still, the end of the arm was smooth like it wasn’t meant to stay in place. He sighed and said, “My apologies. That fake arm keeps falling off. I told the doctor he needs to put in a stronger magnet.” He picked up his arm and fixed it into place and wriggled his fingers. “He told me any stronger and it would ruin the wiring. I guess to fish I need it to function.” He chuckled quietly to himself. “So, what’s your interest in it?”

At the docks of Foosha Village, a small boat would dock. Off of it came a man who seemed to have been traveling for a while. He stepped out and walked across the village and people seemed to just treat him as another passerby, though a few showed fear in their eyes and others respect. This man was aging well and carried a large blade upon his back. Some of the children he passed by would point at the blade or try to touch his coat. The man seemed to simply not care, allowing them to do so as he passed through to his destination. He went directly to the bar after the fishman had left.

The one running the bar knew him and instead of seating him with the rest of the people, she quietly ushered him into a back room so he could be without the marine’s eyes watching. Some people were allowed to go in and visit with him, swiftly and on a schedule to witness him. Typically he would send his guests out drunk as he would pay for the drinks this time. People were beginning to crowd to the bar to all try to get a chance to meet him before he left but enough stayed roaming so nothing seemed to be out of place than a few mothers dragging sons and daughters into the bar to meet him.

Carina fell into step beside the captain of the fishing vessel keeping a firm grip on the paperwork for his ship as they headed over to the registry. She listened intently as the seafarer began to look off into the ceiling, recounting this first experiences with the Grand Line. His voice rang with such wonder and excitement that the young marine was convinced he must have actually visited the miraculous islands he was talking about. And then he stopped mid speech when his arm fell off.

The lass startled with surprise as the limb suddenly dropped to the floor. The severed end was completely bloodless, and there wasn’t a trace of bone or sinew sticking out of the flesh. There was no way that was a normal arm. Casually, she watched wide-eyed as the captain smoothly reattached the arm and tested the finger movement. Wow, I wonder if a Sea King ate his arm! Carina giggled softly, “Heheh, that surprised me! Your arm looks so realistic, it doesn’t look fake at all!”

She then answered his question as they reached the verification office. “To tell the truth, I joined the Marines so that one day I’d be able to visit the Grand Line. My father spent his whole life getting there, but ran afoul of a Shichibukai his first week and never had a chance to explore the Grand Line. I’m determined to see how far I’ll get!” Her words weren’t spoken with any bitterness or frustration, but with enthusiasm born of knowing the dangers and simply not caring.

When they arrived at the door to the verification office, Carina turned to the ship captain. “Sorry sir, you’ll have to wait out here a moment. It’s just protocol in case you were looking to tamper with our files or something, hahah. And oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. I never even caught your name.” She could have just read it off of the paperwork, but it was bad protocol to go snooping around all of the documents, and it seemed a tad rude to do so.

The captain’s smile read of being impressed with her drive to explore the Grand Line, also hiding the fact he was smiling about the arm as well. He began to wonder who was her father and what he had done to go afoul and yet have such a kind little daughter full of wonder. He lost his smile a bit when he was asked to wait outside but he did not hold it against the child. He chuckled a bit when she decided to ask for his name. It wasn’t often that he asked for it so he felt obliged to answer nearly giving his own. He made sure his mind was in order to give it properly before he would speak to the young woman.

“Bedros Udell Gavril Garrison Yahto,” He spoke it plain then leaned to the girl and joked, “If you are to marry, don’t take the others name or your name would be as long if they decide you aren’t worth it. But I an tell you will be a one man gal, too pretty.” He then stood back up and was able to see in the door a bit as it opened. Rear Admiral Jango had been in the office speaking to the officer inside and opened the door to come out. He stopped short when he saw Carina but his eyes locked on the captain next to her. Bedros smiled and said, “Long time no see.” He placed his hand out for his, the arm that had fallen off earlier.

“Same to you,” Jango took the hand in his own, giving the arm a firm tug to make him have to pop it off again. He smirked and said, “Still falling to pieces I see.”

“Aren’t I always?” Bedros replied to him with a big smile. Then he checked out Jango’s jacket and he blurted out, “What did you get moved up to this time?! It’s been what, a year or so since we have seen each other?”

“Just Rear Admiral,” Jango spoke like it was nothing and gave Bedros his arm back. “I got bumped up due to my services.”

“Hope you don’t mean services rendered,” Bedros’s joke made both the men laugh. They didn’t seem to forget she was there as Bedros rolled his shoulder a bit like he was getting the arm into place. He spoke plainly, “Your Seaman Apprentice here seems very hard working. Perhaps you should promote her?” He then smiled and looked at Carina and said, “Would you like that?” Jango didn’t say a word until he heard her response.

She had been wandering the village and watching everyone she watched the fishman interact with the children and smiled figuring that things where getting better. Though she was angry for her own reason at the lower lands. Slowly she moved through the town looking at the stalls and took a deep breath and sighed. Hearing a deep voice speaking towards her she almost felt uncomfortable but put on a smile turning and looking up at him. He was much larger than she expected and left her hands in her pockets a child ran by behind her and stopped bending over and picking up a red feather and smiled playing with it and ran off. She glanced back at him and her mouth opened to say something then shut quickly. She had almost forgotten things worked differently down here. Then turned to look back at him and sighed. “What makes you say that?” She asked and thought to say something more but held her tongue for a moment. Watching the people milling to and from the bar and one of her brow arched above the sunglasses she wore. Curiosity was getting the better of her slowly but she was more interested in the fishman in front of her. “You don’t seem from around here either though probably just as far away as me just the other direction..” she giggled and watched him.

-Axel smirked at her statesmen”only someone who is hiding something would wear a coat in this weather”. He noticed the man walk by with the large sword and he was sure he had seen a wanted poster somewhere for a man who carried such a blade. He wanted to follow but his movements spoke he was trying to draw as little attention as possible so he didn’t need a huge fish bearing down on him like a beacon. He sighed seeing all these people acting in fear at the mention of the marines. He walked past the bar and openly spoke ” if I had the loyal allies Id make these marine dogs kneel before those that they have harmed”. He began to walk back to the coast to check on his ship to see if it needed repairs or supplies. He pulled up his shirt and the sun pirates mark was on his ribs that looked raw still as it had only been three days since the mark had been gifted to him. He saw the ship and saw no one was bothering it so he went around the ship seeing paint was chipping and there was a few cracks on deck and the mark of the king was fading. He sat leaning against it with his head bowed and thinking of his brother that had been lost to the vicious dogs. He didn’t find there bodies so he feared the worst for them imprisonment or enslavement as death would have occurred then and there.-

The man heard the fish from outside the bar, currently a man was in the room with him and giving him compliments. He thought out something as he heard this man next to him saying he would to anything to prove himself worthy of even being in the room with him. The man with the blade spoke firmly, “If you want to prove yourself, go join whoever spoke out there.” The man he spoke to looked at him as if he was nuts and walked out. The man with the blade sighed and then asked that access be restricted until his guest arrives.

Near Axel’s ship, a blur of tan and yellow leaped from the water and onto land. Once the being had stopped, she was revealed to have tan skin with spikes starting on her forehead and running the whole length of her back. She had a yellow cloth holding her breasts up and a yellow cloth tied in the front with the knot on her left leg. She turned to face Axel and her yellow eyes were revealed, her body had some spots along the sides. She had thick lips and etched on her stomach was the red sun symbol of the Sun Pirates. She had a look of surprise, not expecting to see another fishman here. She decided to stop and speak up to the man, her bare feet tapping as she walked to him, “I didn’t expect to see one of us here.”

She crossed her arms beneath her breasts and was looking over him, attempting to gauge him. She thought the remembered him but she was usually out making communication runs as the Neo Sun’s main form of communication with other pirates. She stopped at least five feet from him and admired his looks.

She chuckled and nodded to him then turned walking to the bar and slowly stepped inside looking about everyone. She slowly made her way to the bar seeing people being turned away form an area they seemed to be trying to get to and raised a brow again then sat down at the bar and waved the bar tender over her head bowed low. “Greetings I apologize for the request and also the informality of it all. Though I have a very important question to ask a man who wishes to be so quite. It is a matter of family and honor. I wish to not bother him but It is a simple question and I will forget I was even here once I leave only take the information which was given nothing more. I seek something of my father who has since passed I only wish to know if he has any information on it. If I may speak to him about it if not would you be willing to pass the question to him and let me know the answer. I do not wish to be a bother and if he will not speak or answer then I will go and still forget all I have seen and know.” She then ordered a drink something light as she had business and did not wish to be drunk.
