Jack hummed to himself, trying to flick on the heavy steel lighter that refused to do nothing but spark.
“Feh. Stupid thing.” Jack looked around the room of the warm building, standing up from his chair and turning away from the massive board table, looking out of the wall-length window to the sprawling city, the lights of flying hovercrafts zipping through the cold blue buildings illuminated through the thick rain.
Jack wondered to himself when the recruits would be here. He glanced at his glowing watch, the time of 4:58 PM reflecting off of the window. He hoped he made enough flyers.Â

Suddenly a loud slam was hear as someone entered the building.
“Crap, I got injured, well, at least I lost them some ways back.” A ridiculously cheery voice rang out. Rose, the one in charge at the time,  started looking around happily and saw Jack sitting. She suddenly quieted and became somber as Katherine came out, “Who are you?” She glared at the man through the dim lighting.

Jack turned around from looking out the window and stared at them, a smile slowly spreading across his face.
“I take it you’re not here for my meetup, then.” He tossed the steel lighter onto the table, almost bouncing into the seat in front of them and folding his hands in his lap.

“Meeting? For what exactly?” Katherine approached Jack cautiously, almost like a cat approaching a human. The air around her shifted as if  something was moving.

“Ascendii, huh? Gotta hide your wings better, man. Its a meeting for a little group I organized. Stick around and find out.”

Jack looked down at his watch, frowning as it was now 5. He thought his friend would be here by now.
“Although, you might be waiting a while. The people I invited aren’t good with dates and times.” Jack smiled to himself.

Katherine looked at the human for a bit silently before nodding, “….And the purpose for this meeting is?” She inquired as she sat down on the floor away from him.

“A little group I made. If you’re an Ascendii, you know pretty well the history of the OGA and the war between them and Exansis. We’re a little squad to fight them. Would you mind lighting my cigar with your freaky fire powers?” Jack asked, holding it out in front of him.

Katherine flinched as the memory of her days as an experiment came back to her. She looked at Jack determined,“Hmm, I’ll join, I detest the OGA with all of my being after all. For now.” Katherine sat back as Jack’s cigar lit up without her moving a limb in his direction.

“Then welcome aboard, uh…whatever your name is.” He puffed on it, throwing his feet to rest onto the table, the almost comical sneakers covered in dirt and wear.

The Ascendii huffed, “I’m Katherine, at the moment. Rose will be appearing soon I believe.” She stared at the door, “And now we wait I suppose.”

“Katherine, huh? What are you, adopted from some humans? Most of the Inverses I know have those weird names, y’know, like Banta or Spimphy or Apollo, or shit like that. Eh.”

Suddenly Katherine blinked a bit and she perked up and smiled, her pose becoming more friendly as she changed into Rose. Rose laughed a bit at what Jack said though a hard look covered her eyes, “Hmm, the answer to that question is simple. We’re not fully Ascendii, we’re part human.” <i>The happy looking personality leaned forward a bit, smiling, </i>”I’m Rose, nice to meet you, Mr. Human. I’m guessing Katherine deemed you safe for now so I’ll wait.”

“Uh.” <i>Jack grunted, his eyes shifting away and back to Katherine nervously. </i>”What, you’ve got a case of split-personality disorder? Man, I’ve heard that before.”

<i>Odysseus hesitantly opens the door to the apartment, and sneaks inside, holding one of his uncharged batons in his hand. He then comes out of the shadows, and peers around the corner into the room, seeing Jack and Katherine standing in front of the table.</i>
