Oliver whimpered and hid his face in Mirabelle’s chest, squeezing his eyes shut and clinging to her tightly. He was doing his best to ignore the scary woman, but he couldn’t block out her voice.

Oliver’s eyes widened when he was nudged off of Vorgun’s lap, and he watched the troll scream at the new comer, his brown eyes wide with fear. His ears flattened back against his messy hair, and tears sprang up in his eyes, since yelling brought out an instinctual fear in him.

Oliver slowly relaxed as his ears were scratched, and he ended up crawling into Vorgun’s lap, staring up at the newcomer with wide, fearful eyes.

Oliver was still cling to Vorgun, and he had his eyes squeezed shut. He whimpered softly at all of the yelling, and his small body trembled.

Oliver made a panicked sound of alarm and instantly hid behind Vorgun, who seemed like the only one that would be able to protect him. His small hands gripped onto the troll’s pants leg tightly, and he peeked around him at the scary… Thing that has just appeared.

Oliver blinked, then let go of the girl’s hand so that he could walk up to the horned man, tugging on the hem of his shirt. “What happened…?” He asked, not realizing it might be a painful question.

Oliver listened quietly, his brown eyes wide with wonder. “That sounds cool…” He said quietly, before the corners of his mouth turned down in a confused frown. “Um… Why does your blood color make you royalty…?”

Oliver listened quietly, his brown eyes wide with wonder. “What’s a lusus?” He asked, his head tilting to the side as one of his ears gave a curious flick.

Oliver walked with them, his hand still in the slightly older girl’s. He looked up at the horned man, but his response was forgotten when there were suddenly hands scratching behind his ears. His brown eyes fluttered closed, and he leaned into the touch, sighing happily.

Oliver looked up at the horned man, his teary brown eyes filled with hope. “I can come with you…?” He asked.

Oliver’s small body tensed a little, but after a moment he felt himself relax. “I d-don’t know…” He replied quietly, before sniffling again.

Oliver looked up, swiping his jacket sleeve across his eyes to dry them. There was someone talking to him? He sniffled before nodding. “Y-Yeah…” He replied, looking up at the girl warily. She looked human, so his first instinct was to be scared of her. But maybe a young human wasn’t so bad?

“H-Hey!” Casimir picked up the notebook she had tossed aside, and held it out again. “You need this. Godal told me to pass them out.”

Hideki looked at the girl, his head tilted to the side. He didn’t even have time to reply before she had walked away. With a small sigh, the mage tucked his sandwich away and have the girl at the bar an apologetic look. “I should get going. Thank you for the food.”

Casimir wandered around the school, handing out the notebooks and telling everyone about the gym activity.

Casimir looked down at the notebooks in his arms, then nodded, raising his eyes to the principal. “Yes, sir.” He said quietly, turning away to leave the room so that he could get to work.

“It’s Casimir.” He said quietly, his singing stopping. the phoenix looked around until he noticed Godal at the boxing ring, then walked over to him. “You called for the students that signed the assistant sheet…?”

“I’ll try to keep that in mind.” Hideki said, before clearing his throat weakly and looking around. “Is it always this empty?” He asked curiously. “I’ve never seen a guild that isn’t bustling with activity.”

A grateful smile spread across Hideki’s lips, the expression genuine this time, and accepted the sandwich. “Thank you.” He said, finding a napkin to wrap the sandwich in so that he could carry it without having to worry about losing the insides. “Are you sure I shouldn’t pay? “A sandwich would be fine. Something I can take with me.” Hideki replied, brushing his blue bangs out of his face. “I don’t mind what’s on it. I just haven’t eaten in a while.” He looked around again, his head tilting to the side when he noticed how empty it was.

Hideki felt his stomach growl, and he placed a hand against it before looking around. His eyes fell on a mage’s guild up ahead; Fairy Tail. He frowned thoughtfully, then started walking towards the building. It was risky, but maybe they would feed him if he paid. The mage poked his head in as he pushed his hood down, looking around warily.

Casimir blinked when he heard the announcement, then signed softly and got to his feet. He made his way to the gym, singing under his breath, and he was still singing as he walked through the gym door.

Casimir looked around once he was in the hallway, chewing on his bottom lip before deciding to head outside. That was when he noticed the sign for assistants. After a moment of hesitation, he walked over to it and signed his name before going out to the forest.

Oliver sniffled and eventually got to his feet again, using his sleeves to dry his tears before starting to walk in a random direction. His ears were laying back flat against his messy hair, and his tail drooped a little, a universal sign of sadness in canines. The boy looked from side to side, trembling slightly with fear as he walked.

Casimir took his time fiddling with his bag, making it look like he was trying to find something, when in reality he was just stalling. Casimir went quiet when the principal entered the library. He dropped his eyes to the book in his lap, which he held onto tightly, before slipping the book into his bag and standing up. “Actually… Never mind. I should get going.” He said, slinging his bag over his shoulder. “I’ve bugged you enough.”

Casimir raised his head to gaze at the scars, then up at Baylet herself. “What happened…?” He asked hesitantly, before clearing his throat and glancing away again. “You don’t have to tell me.”

Casimir blinked, then looked down at his lap and fidgeted a little with the hem of his sleeve. “So… You’re a real bigshot then, huh?” He asked, glancing up at the girl through his lashes. His expression was bashful, in an almost childlike way.
