“built this baby myself from just regular scrap, that’s one of the good things bout my old gang, we were really into cars and junk, some of us could fix vehicles so easily including the ones you see broken down on the road”

She nodded. “We pretty much walked wherever we went. Sometimes we’d find mules or whatever to help carry stuff.” She scratched behind Black’s ears.

Black licks her face and Zed drives on the Road heading West
“this your first time in a motored vehicle like this?”

She nodded and turned to Rage. “You think you can?” she asked him. He only laughed making J.C. roll her eyes. “Alright then.” She climbs into the sidecar.

“I wouldn’t mind heading back home but anywhere is fine”
Zed hops on his bike and looks at his sidecar
“If ‘Rage’ can keep up you and black can fit in the sidecar”

“We wouldn’t be headed anywhere in particular, just the ocean,” J.C. explained. “So heading in that direction should get us there.” She pointed to the rising Sun.

Zed looks at her a little confused
“Wouldn’t it be West cuz i’m pretty sure New York is North East of Pennsylvania so we’d want to go West/South West to get back to PA”

“Nah, but  want to,” he answered. “I asked J.C. if we could go after New York. She just said ‘we’ll see.'”

J.C. shrugged. “We’ll just have to go a bit more east, so we’ll probably see it sometime.”

Rage whooped in excitement.

“Nope, biggest body of water I saw was the shore of the great lakes Erie back in my youth, believe it or not I was born in the next state over, Pennsylvania, you?”

The four of them headed out into the street, sidestepping ancient debris and looking around. There were other people wandering around as well, but they all steered clear of each other.

Rage decided to break the silence. “Have you ever seen the ocean?” he asked.

Zed packs up his things and buys a drink for the road and a treat for Black
“should be good”
He makes sure he has everything essential on his person

She looked to Rage, who shrugged with a grin, and sighed. “Yeah, that’ll be fine. But you better not try anything.” She stuffed the last of her meager meal in her mouth before leaning back. “Are you ready now, or did you need to do anything?”

“Dunno really, scavenging does should like a good idea mind if me and Black join you?”

She shrugged. “We were gonna explore the city for a while, see if it’s worth staying here. If not, we’ll just move on. You?” She looked at him curiously.

Zed sees JC in the lobby “hey it’s you”
He walks over to her “where you headed?”

The girl had already been awake for several hours when her companion finally awoke. She gave him a short greeting before grabbing her bag. Once they were ready, the duo stepped out of the room and headed for the bar and lobby area to eat their breakfast and return the key.

At the break of dawn Zed gets out of bed and takes a shot of whiskey

In another room, J.C. slept silently, undreaming, ready to pounce should she need to. She had Rage watch over the room while she rested, though she would take the next watch.

Black was sound asleep but his ears perked up hearing his master rustle

“Yeah, we want to head out early. It was good meeting you,” she said with a nod. “Maybe we can talk again.” She stood up and inconspicously checked the weight of her bag to make sure everything was accounted for.
